The Success Story of Our Member Nihat AVŞAR

Ereğli, which is the leader in the Central Anatolia Region with its population, economic development and milk production, stands out day by day in agriculture, which is one of the most important sectors of our country. Nihat Avşar, the owner of Deren Marketing, who is engaged in agriculture in Ereğli, is proud of signing a business that increases its success graph day by day.
Who is Nihat Avşar, can you briefly tell our members about yourself?
I was born in Ereğli in 1979. I was born and raised in Ereğli. I did my primary, secondary and high school education in Ereğli. I am married and have 2 children. I love the soil and working with the soil. I have been in the soil since I was a child, I have never thought about any other job. Anyway, farming comes from my parents, my elders and my father. We have always been engaged in agriculture. Over time, we wanted to institutionalize in this business and established the company. In this way, we can take a closer look at the developments in the sector, the government supports provided and what is happening in our field.
Deren Pazarlama offers its own black carrot for sale to the domestic market. It has been used as the most efficient natural food coloring in the food and cosmetics industry in our country and European countries for the last 5-6 years with the production of black carrot turnip juice, which is registered as a geographical indication of Ereğli. The fact that the anthocyan, which gives black carrots their color, prevents cell aging and has an antioxidant effect also increases the interest. However, European countries where chemical dyes are banned are turning to natural food dyes, and this factor increases the demand for black carrots. It is also used as a concentrate in fruit juices. Due to the favorable balance of lime and potassium in the soil in production, the highest quality black carrots are grown in our region. Deren Pazarlama ranks first in black carrot cultivation in Ereğli, which is the production area. The story of Nihat Avşar, the owner of the company, also reveals the reality of achieving success step by step.
The company, which started black carrot production in 2005 on a 200-acre land, now produces on a 1,000-acre land. He says that the success he has achieved is based on working hard and also acting collectively and sharing it with his collaborators, workers, relatives and family. Deren Marketing worked hard, shared and won. While growing his business and land, Nihat Avşar also developed his vision. Because, as in every sector, there was a need for innovative movements in the agricultural sector.
What are the things that have led you to success in this industry?
I follow technology and innovations very closely. This is one of the biggest reasons for my success.
I often go abroad. I brought a lot of machinery and equipment from Europe. We also developed our seeds related to the product. I know very well that the first factor in increasing crop yield is quality seeds. In this, I work hard and constantly try to renew ourselves. Thankfully, the point we have reached today is very good. We will continue to work non-stop in an open way to innovation in order to achieve the goals we have set in front of us.
Deren Marketing is an exemplary company that grows and develops its business day by day with its effort and belief, and acts together with its family. The difference from other producers is that it is aware of using the developing technology, knowledge and experience in the best way in black carrot production. I also participated in the events and chamber/stock exchange comparison visits organized by our Stock Exchange with our Management and had the opportunity to see the agriculture and production application techniques in different regions on site. My observations here and the information I gained in the bilateral meetings I had helped me to develop new ideas in my sector.
Finally, what would you like to say as an organization that always works to offer innovation to the agriculture of your region and our country?
In particular, I would like to point out that I think that our Ereğli Commodity Exchange and Management will carry out many successful works that will contribute to our district and region in both the agricultural and animal sectors. Drawing its strength from its members, our Exchange continues to play an active role in the development of regional agriculture and commerce with its growing structure and innovative approach.
We are making great efforts to ensure that Ereğli, the heart of agriculture and livestock, utilizes its potential in the most efficient way, that our producers receive fair value for their labor, and that our members operate under more competitive conditions. With a transparent, fair, and participatory management approach, we move forward together with our members.
By closely following technological advancements and adapting to digital transformation, we develop projects to make the services we offer more accessible and effective. At the same time, we place great importance on increasing our members' knowledge and competencies through educational activities.

Zekeriya Ünlü was born on 19.03.1966 in Ereğli District of Konya. Zekeriya Ünlü, who started his commercial life after his primary and secondary school education, still carries out the buying, selling and slaughtering of live animals.
Zekeriya Ünlü was elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors in the organ elections held in June 2013 and won the Presidency of the Stock Exchange in the organ elections held in 2018. Zekeriya Ünlü, who is still the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Konya Ereğli Commodity Exchange, also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Konya Ereğli Beet Planters Cooperative and a Member of the Board of Directors of Konya Ereğli Barrier-Free Tomorrows Association.
Zekeriya Ünlü is married and has 4 children.
