The Success Story of Our Member Mustafa MAÇ

MUSTAFA MAÇ, who has left 50 years behind in his business life, is one of the important businessmen of the business world for Ereğli, who is passionate about Ereğli. Mustafa Maç, who has proven his success in industrialism, dedicated all these successes to his beloved hometown Ereğli, and brought firsts to Ereğli with the differences he created, undoubtedly has many different achievements in his career life. Mustafa Maç talked about his progress and achievements in business life, his memories, the works that brought him to this day and the projects he wanted to implement.
We are actually a family business. I have 1 daughter and 1 son. My son runs companies and my daughter takes care of accounting. As in any business, it is very important to adopt the right management philosophy. I think this is behind our success. I have always tried to raise my children and myself to be well-rounded. As a businessman who likes to work and create new ideas, we have made investments in many sectors.
When I asked who Mustafa Maç, I was born in 1941 in Ereğli and graduated from primary school in Ereğli. I continued my secondary and high school education at TED Ankara College. I graduated from METU Mechanical Engineering and did my master's degree abroad in Sweden.
I started my business life at an early age because I loved working and producing. I can say that I never stopped. I have made business partnerships with foreign companies (British, German, American). For 12 years, I worked in construction contracting and asphalt road construction works. The first attempt in the industrial sector was in Kayseri. We established the steel pipe and box profile factory in Kayseri, which is still ongoing, and I am one of the founding partners. Afterwards, I continued my investments in Ankara. We established Meat, Fish, Chicken, Fruit, Vegetable processing, packaging and marketing facilities in Gölbaşı, we also established Fuel Station and Match Cold Storage facilities in Gölbaşı and I am still operating them. Since the day I started my business life, I have strategically aimed to grow in different sectors. Over time, I increased the pace and established a modern broiler breeding facility with a capacity of 200,000 in Polatlı, Ankara. In fact, those who know know how much I love Ereğli know. 
I have very big dreams for Ereğli ... I want the first and the best of everything to be here, and my projects have always emerged with this perspective. I think one of the best examples is Maç Hotel. Think about it, it is the first luxury hotel in Ereğli during the period with 52 beds and heating. There is a similar hotel in Konya, which is a province, and there is one in Ereğli, which is a great pride for me.
Again, we built Ereğli New Industrial Site and Ereğli Commercial High School in Ereğli.
In addition, I was involved in the project, selection of the machines and the follow-up of the production, construction and all the works of the Ersu Fruit Juice Factory, and I worked as the manager for a while after the business was opened.
As I've always said, I like to be creative and break new ground.
For this reason, I have signed the first cold storages (2,500 tons), the first feed factory, the first open fattening facilities (1500 cattle capacity), the first silage corn production, the first tomato slicing-storage-freezing-processing marketing facility and the first Refrigerated Trailer Transport Fleet.
In the meantime, I am preparing a new project that will be the first and exemplary in Ereğli, which I plan to implement in the coming periods. I will not say what it is for now, I have started its work and when I get the result, it will be an enjoyable project that I will gladly share with all of you.
First of all, people will love what they do, I have done all my work with pleasure.I always had ideas and dreams. I have always tried to be a useful man to his country by performing my knowledge, experience and experience in the best way possible. I constantly planned how I would achieve my dreams and realize my projects. I've always followed my work, I've never been the type of person who tells me what to do. I thought, what do I do to make people happy and satisfied? I recommend this to everyone. Wherever I feel that a good job will come out, I direct it to it, sometimes opportunities come across people by chance, and there will be a real need for knowledge and experience to evaluate these coincidences.
In order for a person to maintain his success, he must have an occupation in which he constantly improves himself, spends time and effort and does it with pleasure.
Without an occupation, people cannot show themselves, differentiate and renew. I have always had an activity, I was involved in folk dances in my youth. In my domestic and international travels, I trained teams and taught Ege Zeybek and Kars Caucasian games. I love to play and watch zeybek, I enjoy watching people come out and play zeybek at a wedding somewhere, I think it is a culture unique to us and it should be a compulsory lesson or activity in schools.I am engaged in shooting and hunting. In this way, I have the opportunity to get rid of the busy work schedule and rest. I won awards as a competitive shooter of the Shooting Federation for 20 years. I made my children love this activity, and my greatest pride in this regard is my son Atay. For years, he has not lost the first place in Turkey in shooting, he has won the Turkish championship 18 times. I am also a member of shooting and equestrian clubs. I ride horses and I even have projects for Ereğli in this regard, I have presented my projects to the Mayors many times before about the opening of an Equestrian Sports Club in Ereğli. As a horse rider, I know very well that horseback riding is an activity that is good for people, as well as the physical benefits of horseback riding, that the meditation provided by horseback riding relaxes people psychologically.In 2000, I published a booklet about proverbs unique to Ereğli, famous nicknames, forgotten old district names, apple varieties, local dishes and products.
Those around Maç, who loves his country and Ereğli very much, describe him as a meticulous, prescriptive and difficult man with a nationalist social structure. In fact, this is a feature that has developed throughout my business life, this is how I overcame the difficulties that came my way in my business life. I've always had confidence in myself. Nevertheless, I have never been afraid to make mistakes in all my activities in the sectors I do business with. I can say that I have always been brave. But this was never the courage of ignorance.
Being successful in business is not an easy task. In fact, the criteria for success are no secret. Education is one of the sine qua non, so I attach great importance to education and try to support it as much as I can. I always appreciate and congratulate successful people. For this reason, with the non-refundable scholarship fund for university students that I started 30 years ago, I supported education.
I had hundreds of students, and my only criterion was that they were really successful and decent people.
I speak English as a foreign language because I have stayed abroad for many years. However, I only use the foreign language when necessary in my work. I don't like it when our Turkish language is under the influence of the English language. The language of a country should remain one hundred percent pure and not be under the influence of the languages of other cultures.As for the Ereğli Commodity Exchange, I am currently the chairman of the disciplinary committee of the stock exchange and I am one of the very old members of the stock exchange, thanks to the current stock exchange managers, they will have understood this very well that they presented me with loyalty awards that appreciate and thank you for the successful and devoted work I have done for Ereğli over the years.
I also benefited from the training and activities of the stock exchange. The knowledge I gained in the trainings I attended guided me in my business life.
I closely follow the successful work of the Chairman of the Board of Directors Zekeriya Ünlü and his colleagues. There is a solid team behind successful works, the success of the manager is a reflection of his colleagues, never alone.I am aware of all of your work, for example, I observe that there has been a significant increase in the income of the members of the Stock Exchange, even though it has seriously reduced their dues and other incomes, let alone increased them. There is probably no one who is not aware of the support they provide to families in need of education and help without expecting anything in return. It provides a great service to both the members and our fellow citizens of Ereğli in order to announce the purchase and sale price indices of the products traded in the stock exchange on a daily basis and to inform the citizens correctly. I see a stock exchange that also serves its members socially by organizing fairs and trips every year. From here, I wish Mr. President Zekeriya Ünlü and his colleagues continued success.

As Ereğli Commodity Exchange, we continue our efforts with a mission that guides the economic life of our city, supports our producers, and contributes to the development of trade. Drawing its strength from its members, our Exchange continues to play an active role in the development of regional agriculture and commerce with its growing structure and innovative approach.
We are making great efforts to ensure that Ereğli, the heart of agriculture and livestock, utilizes its potential in the most efficient way, that our producers receive fair value for their labor, and that our members operate under more competitive conditions. With a transparent, fair, and participatory management approach, we move forward together with our members.
By closely following technological advancements and adapting to digital transformation, we develop projects to make the services we offer more accessible and effective. At the same time, we place great importance on increasing our members' knowledge and competencies through educational activities.
Our main objective as Ereğli Commodity Exchange is to act with a vision that considers not only today but also the future, and to ensure that our producers and traders take stronger positions in national and international markets.

Zekeriya Ünlü was born on 19.03.1966 in Ereğli District of Konya. Zekeriya Ünlü, who started his commercial life after his primary and secondary school education, still carries out the buying, selling and slaughtering of live animals.
Zekeriya Ünlü was elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors in the organ elections held in June 2013 and won the Presidency of the Stock Exchange in the organ elections held in 2018. Zekeriya Ünlü, who is still the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Konya Ereğli Commodity Exchange, also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Konya Ereğli Beet Planters Cooperative and a Member of the Board of Directors of Konya Ereğli Barrier-Free Tomorrows Association.
Zekeriya Ünlü is married and has 4 children.
